About The Run
Brief Description
This will be the funnest half marathon you will ever do. This is a race to see who can cross the finish line at midnight or after without crossing too early. There will be no timing devices allowed. You start when you think it will be the right time so you can cross the finish line at midnight. It's a party from start to finish!
Full Description
This is a fundraising race. All the money will go to the Mapleton Parkway Trail. This is so a running trail can be put through Mapleton along parts of the old canal road. There will be a party after with ice cream, drinks, food, etc... We will be supplying some glow in the dark lights. Extras can be bought or you can bring some yourself. Lighted costumes are encouraged. Awards will be given for best lighted costume. We also picked this night because it is going to be a full moon so it will be easier to see. We are also fortunate that on that night there will be a meteor shower called Perseids Meteor Shower!!! How cool is that!!!
Here’s some details…
This is meant to be a fun run, so we will start about 9:00 or 10:00pm. Slower runners earlier, faster runners later, (you decide exactly when). Awards will be given for the first across the finish line after midnight. No timing devices will be allowed. This way those of us that never win a race have a chance. It will be a full moon and we will have glow necklaces and bracelets. Most people will cross the finish line around midnight, then the after party begins. There will be lots of food and we will have music. This will be a fund raising event for the Mapleton Parkway Trail. We are somewhat limited to the number of people we can accomodate so sign up as soon as possible. Go to active.com to sign up. Of course all this is subject to change. If you are not wearing your bib number you will be asked to leave the race.
Included in the package are:
- Glow Necklaces
- Food after the race
- Nice, breathable runners shirt
- There will be a medal for every finisher of the race
Course Info: To view the route information go to course map.
The proposed start will be at Jolley's Ranch on the right hand fork of Hobble Creek Canyon and running all the way down to Ira Allan Park in Mapleton.
The route is subject to change slightly depending on the number of participants that we get.
There is a limit of 700 participants and spaces are going fast so sign up as soon as possible.
Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to help out with the race again this year. (Pretty please. You get a free shirt.) If you or someone you know would like to help, please email moonlighthalf@yahoo.com
